Proenza Schouler Fall 2012 RTW
I can't believe I discovered Proenza Schouler just one month ago (from the fashion documentary The Day Before). The dynamic duo met in Parsons and collaborated their senior thesis which was eventually bought by Barneys New York! The label is derived from both designers' mother's maiden last names - a tribute to the powerful women who shaped their lives. In their most recent Fall 2012 Collection, Proenza Schouler creates its own powerful women when Japanese textiles meet rock and roll shapes. I'm obsessed with the asymmetrical lines of the jackets and skirts. The color palette consisted of roaring reds, can't-touch-me whites, electric blues, and hey, some Eastern floral patterns (why not?). The collection's story probably goes something like this: Hot guitarist meets girl who loves motorcycles. They have a Japanese baby. The Eastern prints somehow match with the collection in that they are cut and styled the same way as the other outfits. Hell yeah.
