Valentino Haute Couture Spring 2012
To close fashion week in Paris, Valentino featured a pastel palette with floral patterns and lace for a feminine touch. Fresh and lighter than air, the entire collection evokes a sense of demure romanticism. The detailed handwork and craftsmanship are evident in the beautifully manipulated silks. I especially enjoyed the garments with cutouts for they gave the very pretty dresses a slightly sexier twist. Regarding all the shows, it is lovely to see such fresh, jolie creations interpreted in different ways. From dark Givenchy to marshmallow Valentino, last week was a true testament to spring as the shadows of winter melt away to be replaced by something sweet and new.
