Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring 2012
It appears that romance, lace, and fresh pastel hues are in store for the spring season as the Paris haute couture shows have consistently been presenting romantic garments. Aside from Givenchy's darker vibe (models with piercings and studs, a stark contrast to the Asian angels from his previous collection) and Jean Paul Gaultier's Amy Winehouse inspiration, spring seems to be adorned with roses, powder blues, and wheat colored floor length dresses. Elie Saab's line, embellished with lady like finishes such as embroidery and cute waisted bows, reminds me of frosting on a cupcake. Sweet, light, and refreshing. However, several dresses were extremely wedding-like, and many were repetitive in style with just a change in color. No matter. The line was cohesive and the handwork phenomenal.
